Artist statement
My background in poetry has helped shape my art as metaphorical and spiritual in practice. The act of creating art allows me to connect to the invisible. My intention is to be open to the messages that come out onto the canvas through colors and shapes and to give me and my audience a glimpse of what our psyche wants us to know.
Trusting one’s intuition doesn’t always come naturally. The way to get back to this primal instinct is to trust, melt into the process, let go of outcome, and continually practice this. As I journey through my life, I work at being in the moment and trusting the process, just as in my art process.
I want my art to inspire others to persevere in finding their light within their heart and feel it, trust it and follow it. The divine is speaking to us all the time through symbols and metaphors and circumstances, it’s our job to be open and listen, to have fun with it, and to know that it supports us through the difficult times and know that it supports our growth.
